The Basic Problem:
For those with arthritis, weak muscles, painful joints or recovering from hip or knee surgery, standing up from a low chair or toilet can be an ordeal. The problem is that when the knees are flexed more than 90 degrees, standing up requires significant strength and puts intense stress on knee and hip joints. If your knees are bent more than 90 degrees when seated with your feet planted flat on the floor, then the seat is too low. Calling for assistance from others is embarrassing and demoralizing.

The Solution:
Raise the seat height and, if possible, add assist arms or a pole for increased support and comfort. Simply incorporating these solutions to your chairs, toilets and beds will help you maintain your independence, stay more active and add comfort to your daily activities.
