Becoming Verbal and Intelligible
, Kathleen E. Dauer, Sandra S. Irwin and Sandra R. Schippits.
Helps children ages 2 through 10 who are nonverbal or highly unintelligible due to developmental verbal apraxia and other articulation, phonological or motor speech disorders. Therapy practice is structured so that syllable structures gradually increase in length and complexity. This functional motor programming approach will improve motor planning ability for speech and language, provide a feeling of success, increase the ability to generalize skills and increase desire and ability to communicate. Picture stimuli organized by syllable structure, target sound and type of transition. Includes suggestions for teaching specific language structures while expanding syllable structure.
